Yogaspiration: Because Yoga Can't Solve All Your Problems
This sums up so much of what is wrong with the lifestyle alcohol narrative. From a “yoga inspiration” account. Image of woman drinking from bottle with messaging about solving problems. A caption that reads “It’s called balance!” Nope. Its called escapism. Let’s stop making and sharing and liking and laughing at these memes. And if you are a brand that associates itself with health and wellness —especially one tied to a spiritual practice —wake 👏up👏. Consider your influence. Consider how many messages like this your audience sees every day. Consider the many, many women who are suffering today. This is not new or funny or fresh or original. But you have a chance to do better. Namaste.
Third Glass of Wine
tellbetterstories2018So a company sells meal plans that are all about supporting health and wellness but posts messages like this? Not buying it. We know, it’s “shortcut” humor. But it’s so tired, and hits a wrong chord especially from a company that’s all about #wellness. Again, this is not about drinking — everyone has a choice about that— but about companies missing the mark so much when it comes to messaging around alcohol and how we cope with stress. • By the way, meditation actually *does* help with stress, as do a million other things. Doesn’t make for easy meme content. But maybe it’s time we stop going for easy. #tellbetterstories#alcohol#marketing#health#wellness#lifestyle #Repost@realplans ・・・ #thestruggleisreal
