The Edit Podcast: Memes and Marketing
We were honored to be mentioned on a recent episode of "The Edit Podcast: Editing Our Drinking + Editing Our Lives." It's a great resource for people who are reconsidering their drinking habits or have made the choice to remove alcohol from their lives. The Edit Podcast is by Aidan Donnelley Rowley (@drybeclub) and Jolene Park (@healthydiscoveries).
From their description: "Aidan and Jolene talk about their decisions to make an Early Exit from the drinking life, the gray area of drinking and the ongoing edits they make in their own lives."
I really like their perspectives. Aidan is an author and mother of three, and Jolene is a functional nutritionist and health coach. This episode is one of four in a series of mini-episodes. Also you should watch her TedX talk.
What I like about the Edit Podcast work is that it explores what they call "gray area drinking." Historically, all we've ever heard about are people who have a problem drinking with alcohol and those who don't. And while some of us have more risk factors than others for dependence and addiction, alcohol can have consequences for anyone who uses it. But that's another story.
Like me, Aidan and Jolene aren't advocating that sobriety is the only way for everyone. Rather, it's up to every person to make the decision. However, we should enter into those decisions informed. Moreover, the messages that we send, particularly the use of alcohol in marketing and media, can have an impact.
